I've put this one off for a few days so I can think of some things but its finally here! My review of the Sinnoh region from from the 4th generation Pokemon Games!
I remember when Diamond and Pearl released, it was my first year in middle school and I remember making two friends that year that really loved Pokemon and we had the same class and it was a computer class. I remember us being excited and looking at the new Pokemon that were going to be released. It was a great feeling, and i'm only friends with one of them now and he's not much into Pokemon anymore, but I still am!
So the Sinnoh region..first off I guess I can say the region itself is really wonderful. I love having Mt.Coronet split the entire region down the middle. I love having the snow area up north and all the routes and locations are really great (except that foggy route!). The music in this game is wonderful, I enjoy it way more than 5th generation music (We'll get to that some point later in time!) The idea of the three lakes containing the legendary Pokemon was really cool. I however wasn't too fond of the story in the game or Team Galactic in general. I enjoyed the routes where you had a companion travel with you momentarily such as Riley and Buck.
I thought that the Pokemon added in this generation were really great! There were many evolutions for previous Pokemon, many baby evolutions, and many original designs. This region was full of opportunity and I love that!
Now my favorite Pokemon from the region would probably have to be *drumroll* Rotom! Yes Rotom. The minute I discovered Rotom I just fell in love with his design and the fact he is a Ghost and Electric type. What isn't there to love? I know he isn't the strongest of Pokemon but once he obtains Discharge he becomes pretty useful. Then later on in 4th gen there was a wifi-event that opened up the possibility to change Rotom's form in Pokemon Platinum. Unfortunately it was a limited time event so I don't think you can do that in Platinum anymore. The Rotom form changing was awesome though! It gave you a total of 6 different Rotoms each with a unique move! How brilliant is that?
My least favorite Pokemon was really difficult to choose, I had to decide between a bug type and a psychic/steel type. In the end the winner for my least favorite goes to Combee. Now don't get me wrong, I think Combee is a really cool design and the same goes for Vespiqueen. The only reason I chose Combee is because of the low chance of finding a female. Now in 4th gen I hated it because if you had a Male combee you were screwed as it would only know Sweet Scent and Gust ( Bug Bite in Platinum, Heart Gold/ Soul Silver too) which sucks. Male combee doesn't evolve...female does. That makes sense and I like the concept..but why couldn't Male Combee get an evolution? Some type of worker bee evolution would have been really cool. Gamefreak really disappointed me with Combee.
Gym wise I liked the gyms in 4th gen, they all seemed somewhat challenging and not too easy. The typing of them was good, I liked having an electric gym as the final gym.
Overall I give this generation a 8.5/10.
